The Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing (FIBT) has chosen Proceq metal testing instruments for checking the hardness of skids at all the upcoming World Cup and World Championship Races.

During the World Cup Races in St. Moritz in 2012, Proceq’s Equostat 3 portable tester was used for the first time by the FIBT material inspectors, supported by a Proceq delegation. The new Equostat 3 is an innovative high-precision device to determine the hardness of metallic components in a particularly reliable way. Over the consecutive weeks, hardness criteria and measurement routines were established in close collaboration between FIBT, the bobsleigh and skeleton athletes, the skid material producers, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), and Proceq SA. Since then, hardness testing of bobsleigh and skeleton skids has become an integral part of inspection tests conducted on selected sleds after the races. As an official sponsor of FIBT, Proceq contributes knowledge and support to ensure fairness and to guarantee consistent skid properties. This partnership will continue for the all seasons until 2014 – and perhaps even beyond.

Proceq of Switzerland was founded in 1954 and is a leading manufacturer of high quality portable instruments for non-destructive testing of materials such as concrete, metal or paper.
